CONNECTIONS PEER SUPPORT CENTER
A Community of Care for Every Journey
Connections Peer Support is a peer-run, trauma-informed support center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire offering free emotional support, peer-led groups, and community connection for adults navigating mental health challenges.

A SAFE PLACE TO HEAL + CONNECT
At Connections, we understand mental health struggles because we’ve lived them, too. We are a community of peers—people who have experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, substance use, and other issues—and now offer support to others walking a similar path.
Since 1993, our center has been a judgment-free space where you’re welcome to show up exactly as you are. Whether you need someone to listen, want to explore recovery strategies, or are simply looking for an accepting environment, you’ll find understanding and hope here.
WHAT WE OFFER
Our mission is to provide free, peer-led mental health services to adults throughout New Hampshire and beyond. Our programs are grounded in compassion, dignity, and lived experience.
Our offerings include:
Safe spaces to share experiences, find hope, and build coping skills.
Cooking, nutrition, movement, and stress management workshops.
Art, music, writing, computer skills, job readiness, and financial coaching.
WRAP planning, dual recovery support, advocacy training, and peer-led community meetings.
A voluntary, non-clinical retreat for those transitioning into or out of higher levels of care.
Warm line services, transportation assistance, and resources for families.
Everything we offer is voluntary, and designed to support mental health recovery and build a stronger sense of community.
THE POWER OF PEER SUPPORT
Peer support is an evidence-based, person-centered approach to mental health recovery. Our peer-run center is founded on relational change – a commitment to mutuality and negotiation, noticing power dynamics, and an agreement that we both are there to learn through the process of our relationship.
At Connections, we believe recovery is a journey, not a diagnosis, and that every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.
We walk alongside you—not ahead, not behind—every step of the way.
